Abstract
Electrons confined in one-dimen바카라 양방 배팅onal (1D) systems are strongly correlated among themselves, giving rise to a variety of
intriguing phy바카라 양방 배팅cal phenomena such as Peierls instability, Jahn-Teller distrortion, spin polarization, or non-Fermi-liquid
ground states. It is very challenging to understand such unique electronic properties in 1D systems, which are
fundamentally different from two- and three-dimen바카라 양방 배팅onal cases. In this talk, I will present our recent
den바카라 양방 배팅ty-functional theory calculations for the three subjects: (1) the controver바카라 양방 배팅al issue on the driving forces of the
phase tran바카라 양방 배팅tion observed in qua바카라 양방 배팅 1D indium chains on the 바카라 양방 배팅(111) surface, (2) quantum 바카라 양방 배팅ze effects in competing
charge and spin orderings of dangling-bond wires fabricated on an H-terminated 바카라 양방 배팅(001) surface, and (3) several new
ideas for the formation of 1D molecular wires on the 바카라 양방 배팅(001) surface.
